Design & Development of a Lift Station Control Panel for City

Design & Development of a Lift Station Control Panel for City

STA-CON is a team of experienced engineers who work closely with our customers to design and develop the perfect control panel for their individual application. One example of a successful partnership is the recent wastewater motor control panel project for the treatment and distribution industry. This project shows our capabilities in integrating and using devices such as controllers, PLC, HMI, and electronic soft starters.

We designed this unit to measure 60″ high x 60″ wide x 16″ deep, with 480 VAC, 3 PH, and 34 HP pumps. The control panel also included some key features including a duplex main influent lift station using electronic starters to provide soft starting and stopping capabilities. In addition, we incorporated a custom PLC programmed per customer and manufacturer recommendations to provide full station operation and status reporting functions. These functions included 3 modes of alternation (cyclic, manual, and timed), transducer scaling, motor status including data collected from the starter via MODBUS, and alarm logging. We also incorporated various safety features including panel ventilation, an alarm contact signal for notification of failure, automatic restart in the event of a power failure, and a flow meter display/recorder installation on the inner door.

Upon completion of the design and development phases, we assembled the panel and performed voltage and operations inspections, which the unit passed. The customer had a wastewater motor control solution that met their specifications and standards within 8 weeks. The quality and safety components of the unit spoke for themselves.
